Match Today: Chelsea vs Brighton 29-10-2022 Premier League

Graham Potter will return to facing his old club when Chelsea travel to face Brighton & Hove Albion at the AMEX in the Premier League on Saturday.

Roberto De Zerbe is still searching for his first win as Brighton coach since replacing Potter in the round last month. It would be hard to blame De Zerbe on the fact that Brighton have not won any of the five matches in which he has taken charge so far.

Traveling to Anfield and Al-Ittihad usually doesn't give any points to most clubs in the country, but Brighton were able to break away from a draw with Liverpool by a point, and they limited Manchester City to very few chances last weekend.

However, they suffered the most at home, especially when it came to finding the net.

The Seagulls here dominated for long periods at Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest, but were unable to find the net against either side, taking only one point from the two games, despite their 33 shots on target.

Brighton have performed less than two goals so far this season, and only one of their two teams, along with West Ham United, have done so.

The style of play represents the way Roberto de Zerbe played when he was in charge of Sassuolo, but in Italy he had a large number of players who could regularly score the net, such as Domenico Berardi and Francesco Caputo.

De Zerbe's Sassuolo has scored 186 league goals in just three seasons, but Brighton have only four goals in five games so far, only due to a lack of clinical excellence in their attacking play.

Potter's excellent start with Brighton means the gulls are still roughly in the top half, but he is now in the rival training center, with Chelsea looking to reclaim fourth place from Newcastle United.

Potter is unbeaten after nine games with Chelsea as Chelsea manager in all competitions, with Tuesday's victory over Red Bull Salzburg securing a group win in the Champions League.

However, the latest drama last week against Manchester United saw them drop by two points on death and eventually lead to a fourth-place capitulation the next day, albeit with a game still on hand.

Chelsea's constant problem of not having a regular goalscorer is hurting their fight to get between Arsenal and Man City at the top. They drew with Brentford, and needed a penalty to break through Man United's defense, and stunning goals from Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz were the ones to seal the 2-1 victory in Austria during the week.

Raheem Sterling remains the top scorer in the league with just three goals, and his last goal came while Thomas Tuchel was still at the top of the list.
